I ordered this a few days before the new year, and finally received this today; the delivery took a lot longer than expected, but probably due to the new year. Surprised.

I had ready many many reviews about people replacing their PS3 HDD (which is what i intended to do with this drive) and how easy it was to do so. I pulled out the old HDD from the PS3 and was challenge by the screws. They were screwed in excessively tight and i struggled to get them out, trying not to mash the head up. Surprised.

Eventually, after taking the old HDD, i replaced it with this and i was raring to go. Installed the new WD HDD, and was faced with yet another problem. The PS3 failed to boot up properly as its "operating system" wasnt installed; so much different to just plugging the new HDD in, formatting and away we go. So, i put the old HDD back in the caddy, and the PS3 booted up fine. I then did some research and downloaded the firmware (2.53) from the PS3 website, i then had to put that… more »

I placed my new WD HDD back into the caddy (not doing the screws up too tight) and slotted it back into the PS3. The PS3, again, said there was no "operating system" installed and a media device with the OS on needed to be insterted. Plugged my external in, installed the firmware (OS), and away i went (finally). This was another big surprise.

Also, there were mentions of the drive being quiet, but from what ive heard so far, i can hear a slight clicking noise from about 3-4 feet away. However, maybe this is because the drive is new and needs "wearing in". I dont like to be negative about this product, but im only giving my honest opinion.

The HDD is good, overall. But the experience was not, as there were a lot of things that i didnt expect to happen; it didnt go as smooth as expected.
