'Paul ( sir paul ) mccartney' ..........the man's a legend, his songwriting down the years must surely make him one of the greats in terms of recent history.
You only have to of followed 'wings' the group he formed after the 'beatles' split to realize the influence his writing had on the 'fab' fours music.
His career spans over 'four and a half decades' the beatles era ?
That's a matter of history in 'pop' terms, 'wings' he wrote hit after hit including 'great tracks' such as.......'band on the run' 'let e'm in' 'mull of kintyre' and that's only the tip of the iceberg ...after wings...even more chart success as a solo artist.
I have all the 'beatles' major albums, all of 'wings' and i'm in the process of catching up with some of the 'solo' albums i've missed.
Like me i'm sure as a music fan you admire his work down the years, he obviously has no need to keep releasing 'cd's' i suspect he enjoys doing so, and i for one am glad he does.

'The fireman' is not his best album, the first 'two' number's and last 'two' i wasn't too keen on................however.....there were 'nine' more tracks in the middle, some of which could easily have suitable for the 'famous' 'white album' ( beatles ) 'the fireman' is not as good as 'sir paul's' previous release 'memory almost full' but...............who cares ? 'Its 'paul mccartney' that's all you need to know. ( You don't neccessarily need to be a 'beatle' fan to collect his works since )

So said Paul when he released the excellent and underrated 'Flaming Pie' back in 1997 which he claimed to be a collection of songs he just wrote and recorded with no fixed deadlines in place. Similarly, his 2005 set 'Chaos & Creation...' has the feel of a genius just getting on with the business of creating music for himself and not caring terribly if anyone comes along for the ride. Is it any coincidence that almost exactly 40 years to the day the White Album was first released, Macca should return with his most care free solo set to date under the pseudonym 'The Fireman.' Maybe the majority of his work during the Wings and subsequent solo years satisfied a need to be firmly in the public affections, but make no mistake, this is truly the same energy that was behind 'Helter Skelter' and 'Magical Mystery Tour' - you can hear their influence right through the album, and if you only want 'Yesterday' and 'My Love' style McCartney, then this is not… more »
