Play.com Review
R&B superstar Alesha Dixon returns to gain the spotlight with her debut solo album, The Alesha Show. Reinventing herself as a soulful songstress, Alesha takes inspiration from her time leading up to being crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion to present a genre-hopping album that sizzles with sparkling pop and show-stopping ballads.
Since her victory on Strictly Come Dancing, Alesha has focused all her energy in to co-writing and recording the infectious tracks that make up The Alesha Show. From the opening gambit, 'Welcome To The Alesha Show', Alesha marks her fiery return to the music industry in glorious style. Taking inspiration from her spell in seminal '90s R&B girl-group Mis-Teeq, Alesha swathes the catchy 'Breath Slow' with grinding garage synths and powerful vocals. While the dreamy ballads, 'Don't Ever Let Me Go', and, 'Chasing Ghosts', give her a chance to exhibit her impressive vocal range, the go-go explosions of 'Cinderella Shoe' and 'Italians Do It Better' are infectious dance tracks where Dixon's funky tones dazzle over mambo beats. At the opposite end of the spectrum to up-tempo tracks such as the funky single 'The Boy Does Nothing', is the dramatic 'Do You Know The Way It Feels', written by Dianne Warren, lyrical-composer of hits such as Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart' and Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'. Grand in proportion, the track is an emotion-filled epic that touches on Alesha's sensitive side with undeniable precision.
Presenting her capability as both a performer and songwriter, Alesha has taken her life experiences and channelled them into the varied sounds of this album. Touching on all manner of musical styles including '60s soul, big-band swing, and heart-wrenching balladry, The Alesha Show is an accomplished debut that will have lovers of all music genres dancing and singing along.

This album is excellent, I love how the slow songs really flaunt the vibrato in her voice whilst the more upbeat songs show a different side to Alesha- showing her flexibility musically. Don't listen to Trefusis, they clearly know squat with no admiration whatsoever for different genres of music.
Stand out songs- Do You Know The Way It Feels, Chasing Ghosts, Let's Get Excited, Breathe Slow and obviously The Boy Does Nothing.
Bottom line, this album is really excellent!!
Love it!
