From director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) and starring Rhona Mitra (Shooter), Bob Hoskins (Outlaw, Nixon) and Malcom McDowell (Heroes, A Clockwork Orange) Doomsday is an action-packed, science-fiction thriller!
In Doomsday, a lethal virus spreads throughout a major country and kills hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades - until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair (Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

For those expecting to see a film similar to Dog Soldiers or The Descent then you won't find it here! Albeit several characters appear in Doomsday from those previous films that is about all it has in common. That said what Doomsday offers is a high action and very violent piece of entertainment. For me I saw glimpses of many films like Mad Max, 28 Weeks Later, Aliens, Escape From New Yorkand even some sword fighting. Whilst it does not try to be any of these films, I felt these must have added some inspiration and in the end is more of a homage to them. Sean Pertwee must be the must unluckiest bloke in movie land and joins a great cast including Rhona Mitra doing her best Kate Beckinsale impression yet. All of this said I really enjoyed Doomsday and if you don't take it to seriously then so will you!
Give it a try. its worth watching

Its a cross between Escape from new york and a number of other movies. I first saw this at the cinema and thought it an excellent movie. Baught it on DVD when it was reduced and i must admit being a bit disappointed. I think it works better on the big screen. But deffo worth a fiver of anyones cash.
They end up back in time, in Scotland.... O_O

Ummm, well, this was a weird film. Certainly worth seeing, especially at this price, but...bizarre, to say the least. My BF enjoyed it, but I was left going "wah?" there are some strange "why would they even do that??" bits in it. Eg the part where they go to some castle and everyone's dressed up in period clothing...this is modern day, so we decided the clothes must've come from the castle gift shop! That's the only reasonable explanation for the whole thing!!!
That really sums up the weirdness of it. It's like someone went "hey, it would be weird if we put this in it!" and threw together a load of scenes.
Not an amazing film and certainly wouldn't buy it at full price, but worth seeing. :D
